MUNA is a district program that involves young students using their debating skills to argue United Nations Resolutions on behalf of a country they have been allocated. MUNA assemblies are based on clubs sponsoring a team of 2 year 11 students from a local school and pay their fees in the order of $250.00 each. As with nearly all Rotary programs, Sponsor clubs are also responsible for the students transport. This year, as last year’s MUNA has been re-scheduled, we will be holding 2 assemblies. The first will be on the election weekend of 20, 21 and 22 August 2010 and it will be held at Camp Getaway. This Assembly is being hosted by the Bendigo Sandhurst Rotary Club. Being a little further out in the Bendigo area students are to be delivered on the Friday evening so they are ready to start first thing on the Saturday morning. At this point the final numbers for this assembly are at 62 and we are looking forward to another successful MUNA shortly next month.
In 2011 the date set is subject to change but is on the weekend of the 4th and 5th June 2011 with the Hawthorn Rotary club agreeing to host next year. It is planned to return to the traditional forma at the YMCA Lake Dewar Camp site at Myrniong. |
